Just like the sex chromosomes, everyone receives their genetic makeup from their parents. This includes the 22 Autosomal chromosomes. What makes each one of use for an individual is that, with each new child, the chromosomes from each contributing parent have their genes recombined in a random order. This is the reason most siblings look alike but are not identical. This recombination is random with each new child.

What the study of Autosomal DNA Genealogy does contribute is just what genetic markers are passed down from each of the material and parental lines. The name of this exchange project is International Checkpoint Gothenburg. The project is part of the Student Union, and is now arranged for the 19th year in a row by a committee consisting of eight students, together with the International Programme Office. The committee of ICG 2009 are also responsible for sending Swedish students to International weeks as for hosting and organizing an International week in Gothenburg.

Approximately twenty international students will be invited to participate in a week filled with exciting activities here in Gothenburg, Sweden. They will get the opportunity to discover the environment, companies and culture of Sweden, and to meet a lot of interesting people from all around the world.

During the week our guests will stay with Swedish students from the Gothenburg School of Economics and Commercial Law, who offer their hospitality.
